The Leadup

So as the time nears, we realized that we better get moving on planning this big trip. There is so much anticipation and excitement coming from Justin, myself and even our little Tegan! This is a trip that Justin has wanted to do his whole life, so for the dream to finally be happening it's a big deal.

The trip to the tip is one that is often travelled, sometimes as a yearly tradition and sometimes as a one off. This is something that we hope to make more of a yearly tradition. Queensland National Parks have so much beauty and untouched nature that to hold out and not explore these cast parks, and treat the kids to some of the best education they can come across would be just plain silly, especially with the fact that it is in our backyard and so easily accessible.

One thing that seems to continually be on my mind is that of Lakefield National Park. This is one of two Crocodile conservation parks in QLD, that's right...salties. The ones that are big with big teeth and they are everywhere here. We will be camping here for three nights. I am very excited as this will be such a new experience for all of us, but also very hesitant with the fact that we have two young kids and I am going to have to have a constant eye on all the surroundings of our camp. I understand being croc safe and that you should be sure to camp well back from the high tide mark and well back from the rivers but still, just a little bit timid about the crocodilly population and the fact that they are being conserved!!! They are at the top of the food chain!!! Anyway, this is one fear that I have to come to grips with, lets just hope that Kodie just sticks to the immediate camp site and doesn't get too restless and get her wandering legs on like she quite often does.

Well, that is all for now, please stay tuned as we keep you updated on this month long expedition!!
